How do you top an epic heavy metal road trip from Finland to play a Norwegian viking metalfestival? A prison break to play Wacken, of course!
In 2018's Heavy Trip, we met the band Impaled Rektum, a ragtag group of metalheads from a small town in northern Finland who steal a van and risk it all to get to a music festival in Norway, whether they were invited to play or not. Their heavy metal misadventures had us rolling in our seats when we screened the movie at Blårock in 2023, and now Impaled Rektum is back for an even Heavier Trip.
When we last left Impaled Rektum, they played the viking metal festival with a triumphant set, but were arrested for the chaos they left in their wake on the way there. Now in prison, Impaled Rektum receives an offer to play Wacken Open Air, one of the largest heavy metal festivals in the world. Of course they're going to do anything to get there, but first things first: they need to break out. This trip promises to be "Harder, Faster, Louder" than the first. We can surely expect more Spinal Tap-style loving send-ups of heavy metal tropes, more hilarious slapstick comedy, and another great movie vibe at Blårock.
